There are two different wheels that you can play casino roulette in an American wheel and a European wheel. The American wheel has numbers from 00(double zero) and 0 to 36 and therefore has 38 slots. Casino roulette’s house edge on the American wheel has a house edge of 2.63%.
The European wheel, on the other hand, has numbers from 0 to 36 and, therefore, only has 37 slots. It has one less slot, which means it has only 1.36% house edge compared to the American wheel, which has a house edge of 5.26%.
Contrary to what many players believe, the house edge on the European wheel is actually lower than the American wheel in theory. But even with the lower edge, the house will always win more than it will lose. The house edge is only 0, important, so the casino will always win in the long run.
How to Play Casino Roulette – The Money Bet
Contrary to common belief, the zero on the wheel does not represent the site of the house. It is actually the space that the ball will fall in once the wheel starts spinning. Because of the nature of the spins, the zero will never be placed in the same spot twice.
The roulette game involves placing bets on numbers, choosing between one and eight, or various numbers. The numbers are called red or black and are comprised of either 36 or 38 slots. The zero is included as a green space.
Lining up the numbers on the wheel are the numbers 1 to 36. In order to win, the player must get either the entire amount of bets that were placed on the number or fold and forfeit the bets placed.
The game starts with the dealer placing the bet on the numbered box, aptly called the wheel, that has the least amount of numbers on it. The dealer then rotates the wheel, and a ball is rolled in the opposite direction. Once the ball drops over zero, bets on that particular number instantly win or lose.
But what if you’re not buying your bets in advance? What do you do then?

Two-of-a-kind is when you bet on two numbers that are adjacent to one another. The roulette payouts for this type of bet are 8:1 and 21:1. If you bet on three numbers that are within a square, then the payout is 5:1. And if you bet on four numbers, the payout is 8:1.
Six numbers represent a full house, and the casino usually pays out at least 8:1. Furthermore, if you bet on two numbers that are next to one another, it is 12:1. A street bet is when you bet at the edge of a row of numbers that are adjacent to each other. The payout is 2:1. Finally, if you bet on six numbers in the middle of the table, it is 4:1.
